Club News & Events
Highlights from meeting of 1/13/10
1. Kim Ross will take care of collecting door prizes and the remaining $30/business from the participating businesses involved in the ride.
2. The list of Washburn businesses went around and I think they were all accounted for by each of us taking a few to collect a door prize from.
3. I will make some posters for the day of the event. Some will include: 50/50 raffle - $5/ticket or 6 for $20. Need not be present to win 50/50. Need not be present to win the Poker Hands. Must be present to win door prize.
4. Doug will take care of the colored tickets for 50/50 and door prizes.
5. We will need a few of us to be at the Pub starting around 5 on the 30th to start collecting entry forms and issuing cards.
6. We will need someone to plan on announcing poker hand winners and door prize winners.
7. We will need a few people to go around and sell 50/50 tickets that night.
8. Doug plans to have live music starting around 9:30 that night..
9. We need to continue discussing the Homecoming Float. Saturday, July 24th...I think at 2pm. It appears our club was formed in 1970. This summer we will call this our 40-year anniversary. It would be good to involve some of our past members to join us in the float. Joe Scholl, etc. Maybe Joe can drive the float.
2010 Poker Fun Run Results
Thanks to all the businesses who helped support our ride and to all the riders who made it successful !! It was a great time with over 100 riders participating. The club raised just about $1000 from the event, including entry fees and the 50/50 raffle. A portion of this money will be donated to the Bayfield County Snowmobile Alliance to help support trail grooming and maintenance efforts in our area.
The winners of the best poker hands were as follows:
1st place – Alicia Erickson
2nd place – Mark Ledin
3rd place – Butch Warren
The winner of the 50/50 Raffle was Mark Gervais of Ashland. Doug Summers of Washburn won the jacket and Tim Peterson of St. Paul , MN won the large print.
The club also received a large $500 donation from the Valhalla View Pub-n-Grub.
A HUGE thank you also to all the club members who helped collect door prizes and help organize and run the event. A special thanks to Kim Ross who delivered all of the literature to the participating businesses and also collected their fees and door prizes. We also thank the Pub-n-Grub and Doug and Ruth personally for helping sponsor and host the event. We look forward to another great event next year!!
